MID-SOUTH PRESIDENTS-ELECT TRAINING SEMINAR
2011 - 2012 PETS
The President Elect Training Seminar (PETS) is designed to provide essential and current information to incoming club presidents in order to prepare them to have an effective and successful year. Presidents-elect will have the opportunity to hear addresses by top Rotary leaders and motivational speakers, attend small group discussion sessions and roundtables on various topics lead by knowledgeable and experienced discussion leaders, and network and exchange ideas with presidents-elect from six Rotary districts.

   Rotary Mid-South PETS, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization
that was formed in 2005 to enhance training for presidents-elect
in four Rotary districts in Kentucky and Tennessee. Mid-South
PETS, Inc. now includes six districts in Kentucky (6710, 6740),
  Tennessee (6760, 6780) and Alabama (6860, 6880).

Mid-South PETS is a unique Rotary learning opportunity designed specifically to prepare incoming Club Presidents with the necessary skills, knowledge, motivation and enthusiasm to lead an effective Rotary club. Structured to meet the needs of incoming Club Presidents, incoming Assistant Governors and Governor Nominees, this training seminar brings together over 450 participants.

Presidents-elect will have the opportunity to hear addresses
by top Rotary leaders and motivational speakers. Mid-South PETS also utilizes group breakout sessions and roundtable discussions to cover many topics. These smaller groups are organized into groups of approximately 20-25 participants lead by knowledgeable and experienced discussion leaders. Experience has shown that these smaller groups are more conducive to sharing openly and candidly the participant’ information, knowledge and ideas on the materials being presented

 WHO ATTENDS PETS?
  •             Rotary club Presidents-Elect
  •             Assistant Governors
  •             District Governors, Governors-Elect and Governors-Nominee

Attendance at PETS is MANDATORY for every club President-Elect per the Rotary International Standard Club Constitution, Article 9, Section 5 (c). In exceptional and unusual cases a governor-elect may work with a President-Elect to make other arrangements.

Due to space limitations, Mid-South PETS cannot accommodate Presidents-Nominee or spouses of Presidents-Elect.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

First, you should expect to learn -- a lot. The amount of information presented is considerable; some say daunting. Due to the distance that some participants must travel - nearly half of the participants check in to the hotel on Thursday in preparation for the official start on Friday. Things start promptly at 11:30 am (CDT) on Friday, so attempting to come rushing in on Friday morning could make for a rough start to one's PETS experience. In order to make the most of that, there are some very valuable optional sessions on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.

There are six planned meals: lunch and dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Each of these meals is considered part of the overall training due to the fact that very special guest speakers are brought in - from around the Rotary world - to share their Rotary experience and vision. Please don't make alternate plans during these periods.

A word about menu choices at the six meal events: vegetarian meals are anticipated and will be accommodated. Any and all special menu restrictions need to be brought to the attention of the Registration Chair at the time of your registration. The request will be passed on to the Rotary Mid-South PETS Arrangements Chair and the hotel staff. Please understand that all requests will be noted but the final capability to respond is limited by that of the hotel banquet department's capability to comply.

PHOTOS, PHOTOS, PHOTOS

Mid-South PETS will have a professional photographer on site to take a portrait picture of everyone participating in the PETS and AGI program.  This photo will be used in your District
Directory.  The pictures will be taken at no charge to you, however if you would like to order an
additional picture for your own use, there may be a small charge.  Last year many of the PEs
ordered Rotary Business Cards with their picture on it.

Pictures will be taken from Thursday through Saturday afternoon.  Please dress appropriately,
men in coat and tie and ladies in nice blouse or sweater.

HOUSE OF FRIENDSHIP ON SITE!

There is a House of Friendship that serves as the networking
hub for the event. In addition to being "the place to be" when
not in a session there are licensed Rotary vendors with tables
and more tables of Rotary themed merchandise - so, bring your
checkbook or your credit card and take back some bling for
your fellow Rotarians to kick off the year in style in your club.

The orange vests are here to help

If this is your first Rotary event outside of your club, please know that there is
a contingent of Rotarians serving as Sergeants-at-Arms.  These individuals
are prepared to assist you with anything from a simple question to an emergency request. Just look for the folks in the orange vests!
