Harry Faulk

Rotary Club of Beckley Member:
Harry was born and raised in western Pennsylvania. He earned a bachelor and master’s degree in music from the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music; a doctor of arts degree in music from Carnegie Mellon University; and completed post-doctoral work in higher education administration at West Virginia University. After serving as band director at Fox Chapel Area High School near Pittsburgh, he moved to Fairmont, West Virginia and was the band director and music professor at Fairmont State College. He moved into academic administration and served the college in that capacity until 2004. While at Fairmont State, he was Dean of the West Virginia Governors Honors Academy (1988 and 1989); performed in the Fairmont College Community Orchestra; West Virginia Public Theatre; and was President of the West Virginia Music Educators National Conference.

In 2004, he moved to Pittsburgh where he served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at Point Park University. In 2006, Harry returned to West Virginia to become Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at New River Community and Technical College, which is headquartered in Beckley, West Virginia with campuses in Beckley, Summersville, Greenbrier Valley, Princeton, and Ghent.

Harry was a member of the Fairmont Elks and an Elder in the Fairmont First Presbyterian
Church, where he served as church treasurer and member of the choir. Currently, he serves on the Westminster Foundation, an organization that promotes protestant campus ministries at West Virginia’s colleges and universities, and is a member of the West Virginia Arts Alliance. Harry is a consultant-evaluator for The Higher Learning Commission, a Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, which is the largest of the regional accrediting organizations. 

While living in Fairmont, he was a member of the Fairmont Rotary Club and served on the Board of Directors and chairman of the scholarship committee. He is a Paul Harris Fellow.  He joined the Beckley Rotary Club in 2007 and served on the Board of Directors prior to becoming Club President 2010-2011.

His wife Karen is also originally from the Pittsburgh area and they have three children, Melissa, Jonathan, and Harry.
