News Release on the Scholarship

If you dream of studying in another country and at the same time helping build friendly international relations, the Rotary Clubs of NE North Carolina, may provide you with a $27,000 Ambassadorial Scholarship.  It is a flat grant for one academic year (2012-2013) of undergraduate, graduate or qualified professional vocation study in another country. While abroad, scholars serve as goodwill ambassadors to the host country and give presentations about their homeland to Rotary Clubs and other groups. Upon returning home, scholars share with Rotary Clubs and others the experiences that led to a greater understanding of their host country. To qualify, candidates must have had two years of college or two years of work in a vocation, demonstrate a proficiency in the language of the host country and not be related to a Rotarian.

This is a perfect opportunity for a recent graduate of a community college or a four-year graduate seeking a master’s degree.  Candidates with no college must have worked for at least two years in some field of humanitarian endeavor. This scholarship is funded by the 1675 members of Rotary Clubs in NE North Carolina.  For additional information and application, contact George Link, Scholarship Chairman, geolink@embarqmail.com, 252 249 1956 or any member of a Rotary Club in your area. Deadline for applications is XX/XX
