Emergency Preparedness
Our 35th Year!
The Rotary Club of Claremont has been teaching Emergency Preparedness and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to the eighth grade students at El Roble Intermediate School for 34 years. This year’s class is being conducted during the Physical Education periods on February 20, 21, AND 22.

Our goals are to assist students and their families to respond to emergencies and to make Claremont a safer community. Events over the last few years throughout the world have heightened our awareness of emergency preparedness and the need to know what to do in an emergency.

The program utilizes the American Red Cross programs: First Aid and Preparedness “Be Red Cross Ready”. The basic elements are:

      Take Emergency Action
            · Build a Kit
            · Make a Plan
            · Be Informed
            · Disaster Preparedness
                   o First Aid
                   o CPR/Abdominal Thrust

An American Red Cross reference booklet that discusses the Actions for Emergency Preparedness will be sent home with each student.

We encourage each student and their families to utilize these resources for their family disaster planning and for step-by-step information. The format of the booklet allows for fast access to common first aid emergencies.
