Community Service Projects |
The Rotary Club of Coronado conducts service projects across Rotary International's Four Avenues of Service: Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, and International Service. We are able to finance our service projects with the following fundraising activities:

| Substance Abuse Programs Rotary provides financial and volunteer support for substance abuse programs in the community such as SAFE. This support is directed toward helping young people make the right choices in their lives. |
| Health Care Support Each year our Club donates financial support, volunteers or both to support prostate screenings, stroke clinics and/or breast cancer workshops. |
| Scouting With our annual funding, we provide financial support for Boy Scout Eagle projects and Girl Scout Gold projects, as well as camper scholarships and supplies. |
| Concert-In-The-Park Our club sponsors a summer Concert-in-the-Park and Coronado Rotarians turn out in force for this seasonal event in Spreckels Park. |
| Feed The Needy Annually in the fall and spring, we fund the purchase of food to feed approximately three hundred homeless people and provide the volunteers to serve them. |
| Camp Able One of the direct beneficiaries of our annual golf tournament is Camp Able. Camp Able provides water-oriented activities for over 800 children with mental or physical disabilities over a seven-week period during the summer with Rotary funding one of those weeks. |
| Relay For Life This event is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Our Club has become one of the major financial sponsors. We also field a strong contingent of members who participate in this 24-hour walk-a-thon. |
| Rotarians at Work Day This annual, worldwide Rotary event epitomizes our motto of "Service Above Self". Rotarians fall out to provide hands-on work for projects that benefit the community. Our club has supported San Pasqual Academy and the YMCA's Camp Surf in Imperial Beach with both financial support and labor. |
| Support to the Military Our club is actively engaged in providing funding support to various Military programs in the San Diego area. Our support includes funding for the Comprehensive Combat and Complex Casualty (C5) and Wounded Warrior organizations, Fisher House and the Armed Services YMCA. We also host military servicemen/women at our annual Golf Tournament fundraiser. |
| Fisher House Dinners Our club provides dinners to families of Wounded Warriors staying at Fisher House at Balboa Hospital on the first Thursday of each month. Italian Dinners are complete with salads, breads & homemade chocolate chip cookies for the 36 guests at the two Fisher Houses. |
| Beach Cleanup Once a month our members scour different sections of our beautiful beaches to preserve one of most precious natural resources. We meet at Central Beach at 8:00 AM on the second Saturday of each month. |
| Christmas Eve Santa's Each year, the Coronado Fire Department collects gifts for local children and on Christmas Eve, 15 Rotarians dress up as Santa Claus to deliver them. Parents taking advantage of this program are asked to provide an unwrapped gift for children who otherwise might not enjoy the Christmas holidays. |
| Flags On The Avenue Coronado Rotarians place over 180 American flags in the Orange Avenue median on every major American holiday. We also put up the flags when one of the three Aircraft Carriers home ported at Naval Air Station North Island returns from extended deployments. |
| Flag Sales Coronado prides itself on being a patriotic community and Coronado Rotary has set a goal of ensuring each home has a flag to display. American flags and bunting are available for purchase through Rotary with proceeds benefitting local military organizations. |
