L.E.A.D.E.R is a teen driver safety program initiated by Lanier Forsyth Rotary Club member Dr. Michael Hogan in 2000.  Our rotary club, along with support from other community leaders and the school system, has worked diligently to grow the L.E.A.D.E.R program into the succesful program that we have today.  L.E.A.D.E.R. uses state of the art driving simulators to educate and train young drivers in order to reduce the numbers of children being killed on our roadways directly related to inadequate driver training.  Automobile accidents are a major health issue for our chldren.  Each year we lose more children aged 14 to 24 years due to automobile accidents than any other cause.  This program, simply put, saves lives!

L.E.A.D.E.R. does not receive any government funding, the program is supported by fundraising and sponsorships.  L.E.A.D.E.R. was the primary benefactor of our club's annual fundraiser, the Down and Derby Kentucky Derby Party and Fundraiser.  Our fundraiser was a tremendous success and one heck of a party.  Our fundraising efforts allowed us to donate $14,000.00 to L.E.A.D.E.R.!!  We were also able to donate an additional $6,000.00 to other local charities.  The photo was taken at our July 8, 2014 Rotary meeting held at one of the L.E.A.D.E.R. facilities in Forsyth County as we presented the $14,000.00 check to the program.  In the photo are Keith Porter (Interim School Superintendent), Andy Martin (L.E.A.D.E.R. instructor), Sherry Stein (Program Director), Dr. Mike Hogan (club member and L.E.A.D.E.R. founder), David Hogan (club member) and David Harrelson (club member and 2013-2014 Club President).
