Hat and Mitten Project

The Three Oaks Region Rotary Club didn’t just warm hands and heads this winter, but hearts were warmed as well. This is the second year of our Hat & Mitten Campaign.  Once again it was funded by a $2,000 grant from The Pokagon Fund.  During our 2012-2013 effort, we were able to purchase 209 items for 124 area students in need.  Community Service Committee members shopped until they dropped (5 shopping trips), sorted, bagged, and delivered outer wear to 3 area schools.  The warm items included:

78 hats, 72 gloves or mittens, 26 hat/mitten sets, 7 scarves, 10 pair of snow pants, 1 coat, 15 sweatshirts or sweatshirt jackets.

Community Service Committee members relished the opportunity to serve our area students in need.  The warmth in their hearts continues to glow.  Thanks to the generosity of The Pokagon Fund and hard work of the Three Oaks Region Rotary Community Service Committee, 124 students are prepared for frigid winter weather.
