The Rotary Club of Centreville was chartered on September 26, 2006.  We are one of the newer clubs in District 7610.  Our membership is unique for our diverse, young and female members.The club quickly joined into the spirit of Rotary.  Our first community service project - even before we were issued our formal Rotary charter - was sponsorship of the Inova bloodmobile at the 2006 annual Centreville Day celebration.   Here are some of our recent community service projects and activities:        

• Adoption of a 2-mile section of Highway 29 in Centreville for "Adopt A Highway" clean-up. 
  Donate tickets to George Mason University ballgames for military troops and their families...

• Every year for the holidays, we sponsor a family in need in Centreville with gifts and food.  In 2009,
  our club holiday party was a Business Networking Mixer at Alto Plaza restaurant, inviting guests to
  bring a toy or food for our "Adopt A Family."
• Created a new Club website and fan page on Facebook in 2009 – “Rotary Club of Centreville VA”  (please fan us!)
• Sponsor funding  of Shelter Boxes. Each  www.ShelterBoxUSA.org provides shelter and supplies for 10 people as immediate emergency response to natural disasters worldwide, mostly recently in Haiti..
• In spring 2007, co-hosted with the Bailey’s Crossroads Club a dinner theatre where tickets were donated to local military service families
• Adopted the Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic in Herndon: and purchased vital medical equipment for the clinic with a 2007 District Simplified Grant award.  Sponsor and coordinate annual  back-to-school & sports physicals event at a Centreville location for uninsured families. 
  
  Received a 2008 District Simplified Grant that expanded access to needed medical services for uninsured Centreville residents
  
  In partnership with the Rotary Club of Knoxville, TN and their HonorAir project, we serve as local hosts for World War II veterans visiting their WWII Memorial during (see  www.honorairknoxville.com).
  
  Partnered in 2009 for a joint District Simplified Grant with Dulles, Lake Ridge, Orange, Fair Lakes, and Sterling clubs:  for Twatasha Youth Formation and Chisomo Home Based Care in Zambia. (July)
• Starting in 2010, host the March birthday party for the children at the Kate Hanley Family Shelter (www.ShelterHouse.org)
  
  Serve as greeters for annual Centreville Day in Septembers to show “Rotary in action.”
