Rotary District 7620
Rotary District 7620 can be best summarized by its approved District Projects and Programs which provide support in both the local and international communities.
These projects are as follows:
Anti-Hunger Program - For more information about the District’s Anti-Hunger Program, contact Joseph Slert, Chairperson for the Anti-Hunger Resource Committee at (301-725-2928) or . Thank you to the District Rotarians who donated 1,182 pounds of food at the 2008 District Conference.
Auto Tech Scholarship Program - Approximately 100 returning veterans and vocational school graduates are given jobs at dealerships while they obtain their MLR and ASE certifications. Rotarians provide the tool kits.
Basra Prosthesis Project - This district provides artificial limbs to the children amputees in Iraq. We work with the Physicians for Peace and stage the activities, including training the Iraq Doctors, in Jordan. Visit the web site http://www.basraproject.com for up-to-date information. Big Books project - Over 3,000,000 books have been sent to third world countries.
Dictionary Project -Rotary provides dictionaries to all the third graders in our central Maryland/DC District. Approximately 70,000 dictionaries are distributed.
Gallaudet -Scholarships and support are offered to students at Gallaudet University.
Safe Blood - Training missions have been sent abroad to help establish safe blood program protocols.
There are approximately 2,700 Rotarians in 70 clubs in our central Maryland/Washington D.C district and each club has significant community/international projects of their own.
