January 2012
Well here we are in 2012! I can't believe that we're already ½-way through this Rotary year. As I reflect on what we've accomplished I am very proud of this organization and feel humbled as your President. We have "branded" our Rotary Club of O'Fallon Cares for Our Kids. It's a great message to help tell our story to the community. We have participated in visible, community based events and we have had a few fund raisers to get the year started with funding for service projects.
What do we need to still do this Rotary year?? We NEED YOU! As in many volunteer service organizations, it is easy to have a few members who do the brunt of the work required and others who think it's "someone else's job". That is a sign of a dying organization. We have a great many members who are always involved but many others who are involved in periodic service projects and behind the scenes support of the club. We can't do it without that support. If you are a member who hasn't actively gotten involved, please let us know what your interests are. We have needs to fill in all committees and are looking to other members to step into leadership roles for Walter's year. With our busy lives we need to ensure that Rotary is bringing value to our members. Think back to why you joined Rotary? Was it for business? Socializing? Community involvement? International service? What was it?? Now think back to if that's why you are still part of Rotary? Have your needs changed? Are we meeting them? If not we NEED YOU to share what can be improved upon. We also need to look around our community. In our classification analysis please verify you are still classified correctly and look at the businesses in our community that may not be reflected in our current membership. That's who you need to ASK to join us for lunch. Without growth we lose out on opportunities. Look back to when you joined Rotary. Where were you in business? In life? Now look to those professionals who are there NOW. That's tomorrow's Rotarian!
I look forward to serving with you as we move into 2012. Thanks for all you do to change our community & our world.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Jill S Pietrusinski
